VNTANA Download 3D Model
Grab a GLB, USDZ, FBX, OBJ, or STEP straight out of your VNTANA catalog
- credentials
- file_path
- filename
- file_size
Renders are images; this node is for the actual geometry. VNTANADownloadModel pulls the 3D model file for a product out of your VNTANA workspace and writes it to disk in the format you ask for - GLB, USDZ, FBX, OBJ, or STEP. If you're feeding a model into a downstream 3D tool, a game engine prep pass, or just archiving a source asset, this is the fetch step.
How it works
Give it credentials and a product_uuid, pick a format, and the node downloads the model as binary data over a direct API endpoint with a generous 300-second timeout (models are big; this is deliberate). Then it writes the bytes to a file and reports back three outputs:
- file_path - the full path where the file landed.
- filename - the file's name. Note that the node names it
<product_uuid>.<ext>, not something human-friendly. That's by design - the filename is sanitized from API-derived data to keep path-traversal attacks out - but don't expect "sneaker_v2.glb". - file_size - bytes, handy for logging or sanity checks.
The file_path output is a plain STRING, so you can wire it into any node that wants a local file path - a model loader, a converter, a script.
The output directory trap
Here's the gotcha nobody warns you about, and it's a case where the docs and the code disagree. Leave output_directory empty and the file does not go to ComfyUI's output folder - it goes to your OS temp directory (/tmp on Linux, %TEMP% on Windows), per the source code. Fine if you're immediately handing file_path to another node. A genuine surprise if you went looking for your downloaded model in ComfyUI/output/.
If you want files somewhere sane, pass output_directory explicitly - and it has to already exist, because the node validates the path and rejects missing directories. Make the folder first.
Install
Same pack as everything else in this family - no model downloads, no GPU requirement, just a REST client:
cd ComfyUI/custom_nodes
git clone https://github.com/VNTANA-3D/vntana-comfyui-node
cd vntana-comfyui-node
pip install -e .
Restart ComfyUI. Or use ComfyUI Manager and search "vntana-comfyui-node".
Troubleshooting
- "Model not found or not available" - the product exists but has no model in that format. VNTANA converts on demand via its pipeline, and not every format is available for every product. Try a different
format(GLB is the most universally available) or check the product on the platform. - File in a weird place - you didn't set
output_directory, so it's in the temp dir. Set it, and create the directory first. - UUID errors - the node validates that
product_uuidis a well-formed UUID before it even calls the API, so a typo fails fast with a clean message instead of a 404.
The format dropdown (GLB/USDZ/FBX/OBJ/STEP) is where the actual value is: USDZ if you're heading to ARKit, GLB for the web, STEP if a CAD tool is downstream. Pick the one your consumer needs, not the default.
