Float Passthrough
One number, every slider — without re-typing
- float
Every ComfyUI user knows the ritual: you decide denoise should be 0.6, so you click into the KSampler, then into the second KSampler, then into the third, and you change the same number in three different widgets. Then you decide it should actually be 0.65, and you do it again. Float Passthrough is the answer to that ritual - a FLOAT goes in, the same FLOAT comes out, and the entire point is that one number can now feed many widgets from a single place.
The trick is that it works with ComfyUI's "convert widget to input" mechanic. Right-click any numeric widget (denoise, CFG, LoRA strength, whatever) and convert it to an input socket. Now wire that socket to Float Passthrough. Change the number once on your passthrough - or better, wire the passthrough into a shared input - and every widget that reads from it updates together. No more hunting down the one KSampler you forgot. The source is the same shape as every passthrough in this pack: float in, float out, return-whatever-you-got. No rounding, no clamping, no surprises.
This is the purest form of the "one source, many consumers" pattern that the whole value-node layer of ComfyUI is built around. Core ComfyUI ships typed primitive nodes that do the same job with a widget baked in, and honestly those are often the better pick for a brand-new workflow. But if you're working in a graph that already uses this pack's passthroughs - or you want to keep every value on the same style of node - Float Passthrough slots in without ceremony.
Inputs and outputs that matter
- float (in) - a FLOAT. Leave it disconnected and you get nothing out, which makes it a harmless placeholder while you're still wiring.
- float (out) - the same value, ready to fan out to every converted widget you want locked together.
Installing it
Standard for wenchengxiang/ComfyUI-Practical-Tools. ComfyUI Manager → Custom Nodes Manager → search "ComfyUI-Practical-Tools" → Install → restart. Or clone:
cd ComfyUI/custom_nodes
git clone https://github.com/wenchengxiang/ComfyUI-Practical-Tools
and restart. No requirements file, no pip install, no models - the pack is pure Python over ComfyUI's existing dependencies.
Issues and gotchas
The only real gotcha is workflow hygiene: a value node like this only helps if you actually use it everywhere. If you wire one sampler to the passthrough and leave another one with a hardcoded number, you're back to the silent-mismatch problem - different values, no error, just a graph that disagrees with itself. Also note it's FLOAT-only; if you're trying to share an integer (like steps or a seed), this pack's Int Passthrough is the matching node, and ComfyUI's core primitives will happily serve either type.
