Any Index Simple
The five-slot version of the same picker

Any Index Simple is the small sibling of Any Index in this pack - same idea, five slots instead of fifteen. Set an integer index from 0 to 4, and the node passes through whatever is connected to value_0 through value_4. The output is a single value of whatever type came in.
Everything about the mechanism is identical to the bigger node: the inputs are lazy, which is the real reason to use this family at all. Each value_# is marked lazy in the source, so ComfyUI only executes the upstream branch you actually selected. If you have three alternative LoRA stacks and a couple of alternate conditionings, wiring them to the slots means the other four branches don't compute - you pay for the one you chose. That's the feature; the only difference between Simple, plain Any Index, and Any Index Strong is how many slots you get (5, 15, 25).
So when do you pick Simple over the fifteen-slot version? When you want the node to communicate the choice. Five slots with index capped at 4 is a tighter contract - anyone reading the workflow sees a small, honest picker rather than a wall of empty ports. It's also marginally less canvas to drag around. There's no performance difference worth caring about; laziness means empty slots cost nothing either way.
The practical behaviors are the same as its big sibling:
- Unconnected selected slot →
Noneout. - The widget enforces
0–4; a wired-in index outside the range returnsNone. - Output is one
value, wildcard type, feeding whatever wants it.
Install is pack standard: ComfyUI Manager → search ComfyUI-Practical-Tools → install → restart, or git clone https://github.com/wenchengxiang/ComfyUI-Practical-Tools into ComfyUI/custom_nodes and restart. No dependencies, no model downloads. If you outgrow five slots mid-workflow, it's a two-second swap to the fifteen-slot node - same sockets, same behavior, just more room.
