Any Rerouter
A bendable wire that accepts every type ComfyUI has
- any_value
- any_value
ComfyUI's core Reroute node is one of the most underrated tools in the program - a tiny pass-through that bends a wire so it doesn't cross the whole canvas diagonally. Any Rerouter is that same idea with the wildcard upgrade: its any_value input and output are the * type, so it can carry any value ComfyUI knows about - including custom node types that a typed reroute sometimes chokes on. Whatever goes in comes out unchanged.
That's the whole mechanism, and there's something quietly valuable about it. The KB's node-plumbing doc frames the entire utility layer as fighting two enemies: repetition and illegibility. Rerouters are the legibility tool. A workflow with forty nodes drags wires across each other until you can't tell what feeds what; a reroute lets you route around the mess - the community is extremely vocal about this, with one commonly-cited line about how people "can't stand messy noodles" and rewire graphs by hand for sport. Any Rerouter does that bending for any data type.
Two things worth knowing that keep it from being a trap:
- It doesn't change the data or the type.
any_valuein,any_valueout. It's purely cosmetic organization, which is the point. If you need a value to become a different type, that's Any Convert, not this. - Wildcard sockets disable ComfyUI's type checking. That's the bargain every
*node makes: it accepts anything, so the engine won't warn you if you route something wrong. For a passthrough this is low-risk - you're just bending an existing wire, and the wire was already carrying that type. The risk lives downstream, where the type-erased socket hides what's actually flowing. Keep it for organization and you're fine.
One ecosystem note: the Nodes 2.0 frontend rewrite broke several popular reroute implementations (rgthree's included, which its author declined to port), and a lot of the community's reroute anxiety dates to that breakage. This pack is plain NODE_CLASS_MAPPINGS style, so Any Rerouter rides whatever renderer you're on without drama.
Install is pack standard: ComfyUI Manager → search ComfyUI-Practical-Tools → install → restart, or git clone https://github.com/wenchengxiang/ComfyUI-Practical-Tools into ComfyUI/custom_nodes. No dependencies, no models. If the output is None, the input wasn't connected - that's the whole failure mode.
