Don't let the name fool you - this isn't "style" in the artist sense. StylesImage_Zho is the medium picker in Zho's ArtGallery pack: 115 entries like Acrylic Paint, Airbrush, Batik, Bronze, Art Glass, and 3D Printing, each with a reference image the author generated in SDXL. It's for when you want a material feel - painted, printed, carved, stitched - rather than a named painter.

    Why you'd reach for it

Medium words are sneaky. "Acrylic paint" sounds specific, but you can't be sure whether the model will give you thick impasto strokes, a flat poster look, or just a generic painting. This node answers that before you queue anything: each of the 115 entries has a preview showing exactly what that token produces in SDXL. It's the same "preview, then decide" philosophy as the rest of the pack, aimed at the vocabulary of materials and techniques - the difference between a digital image and a "this looks like it was made of X" image.

    How it works

Identical machinery to its siblings, which is a compliment. The dropdown lists 115 mediums pulled from Rikkar's SDXL 1.0 Artistic Studies - the same tested prompt collection that supplies every gallery in this pack. Pick one and the bundled reference PNG appears as the node's preview. Inputs:

    • image - the medium dropdown (115 choices).
    • weight - 0 to 1.75, step 0.05, default 1.2.

    Outputs:

    • name - the medium as a weighted token (e.g. (Bronze:1.2)) for your positive prompt.
    • image - the preview as an IMAGE output, if you'd rather feed a reference to an IP-Adapter than type the token.

Wire name into your prompt, set the weight, done. It's one of those nodes that's trivial to use and hard to misuse.

    Getting it right

Mediums are generally gentle style modifiers, so 1.2 is a good starting weight and you've got room to push toward 1.5 before the material overpowers your subject. If you're after a photographic look, note this node is the odd one out among the galleries - it pairs well with a film or camera token from the pack's other nodes to get "shot on film of a bronze statue" energy.

    Install and troubleshooting

Install via ComfyUI Manager (search "ComfyUI-ArtGallery") or:

    cd ComfyUI/custom_nodes
    git clone https://github.com/ZHO-ZHO-ZHO/ComfyUI-ArtGallery.git

Restart ComfyUI. No pip installs, no model downloads, no API keys - the pack is Python plus bundled images, fully offline. If previews don't show after the first restart, restart again; the author explicitly calls that out as the fix. Two things worth knowing before you hit trouble: the pack is early-2024 code (V1.0) with only test-image updates since, and there's one old community report of it - alongside other ZHO plugins - breaking image loading in a setup, fixed by removing the pack and reinstalling. Uncommon, but the fix is painless.

    The SDXL caveat

Every preview in this pack was rendered with SDXL 1.0, and these mediums were tested on SDXL, so that's the reference frame. On SD 1.5 derivatives the same medium token will behave differently. If you're on SDXL, though, this is a fun little node to browse for material ideas you'd never have thought to type.
