kubakub sample facade
A fake building you can light up in 30 seconds — and the fastest way to test kubakub nodes

Most ComfyUI tutorials open with a model download and a 6 GB wait. This one opens with a picture of a building that the node draws for you. kubakub sample facade generates a synthetic sandstone elevation - arches and a door at street level, framed windows above, pilasters, cornices - and hands you, in one shot, every ingredient the rest of the pack wants: the picture, a flat colour version of it, the building silhouette, and a folder of masks named after the building's parts.
That matters more than it sounds, because this pack is not a sampler pack. It's a projection mapping pipeline: you take a real facade, split it into regions (every window, each floor, the cornices), give each region its own prompt, then render the result and send it to a projector. The bottleneck is normally getting the regions. The sample facade removes that bottleneck for your first evening, and it stays useful later as a control - when a graph breaks you can swap in the sample and find out whether the problem is your graph or your mask folder.
What it actually gives you
Five outputs, all of them usable immediately:
- image - the facade as a shaded elevation. This is your matrix: the canvas everything else in the graph is sized against.
- color_matrix - the same facade in one flat colour per element. Feed it to kubakub regions from matrix / masks in
color_regionsmode and you get named regions instead of a picture. - silhouette - a
MASKwhere 1 is the building and 0 is sky and ground. That's your projection mask: anything you only want landing on the building, not on the sky behind it, gets multiplied by this. - mask_folder - a folder path (a
STRING) laid out like an After Effects mask export:Groups/M_*.png,Windows/W_F*_C*.png. Point kubakub facade mask atlas at it inmask_foldermode with recursive on and you get the whole facility as named, layer-per-element regions. - sketch_photo - a synthetic phone photo of a hand pencil sketch of the same building, red dot on the door, blue dots on the first-floor windows. That's the test input for kubakub scan to line.
The inputs you'll actually touch
width and height (default 1920×1080, steps of 16) set the matrix size. Set this deliberately, because your whole graph inherits it: the region nodes are built at the matrix size, and an image of a different aspect ratio gets refused downstream rather than quietly resized. If you're going to project at 3840×2160, say so here on day one.
floors (default 3) is the count of storeys above the ground floor, and bays (default 7) is the number of window columns. Those two are how you make the sample look like your actual building before you have any files - a five-storey, five-bay block reads completely differently to the default three-by-seven.
style is the colour scheme - wall, trim, glass and sky. night gives you lit windows. Pick it early, because it decides whether your preview looks like a daytime elevation or a projection at dusk, and those want different prompts.
seed does small variations in the window glass and wall texture. Nothing structural. Leave it at 0 unless you want to see the same facade breathe a little.
Install
Normal pack install - this node ships with everything else in ComfyUI_KubaNodes:
cd ComfyUI/custom_nodes
git clone https://github.com/kubakubkub/ComfyUI_KubaNodes
python -m pip install -r ComfyUI_KubaNodes/requirements.txt
# portable build: python_embeded\python.exe -m pip install -r ...
Or install it through ComfyUI Manager by searching kubakub nodes, or comfy node install comfyui-kubanodes. OpenCV is the only package the pack adds, and only if you don't already have one - keep your existing OpenCV build if you do. Restart ComfyUI and the console prints [Kub] N nodes from M modules.
Then go Workflow → Browse templates → ComfyUI_KubaNodes → 01 regions in 30 seconds and hit Queue. No models, no files. Template 03 opens the director window on the same facade, still with no models.
Where people get stuck
The sample is a stand-in, and the mask names are the giveaway. Regions come out as M_Pilasters, W_F1_C03 and friends, and any rules you wrote in a region plan against those names stop matching the moment you swap in your own building. Budget ten minutes to re-point your selectors at the real names.
Worth knowing before you go looking: this pack has almost no community footprint - a handful of mentions, no walkthrough videos, no forum thread to skim. The templates are the documentation, and this node is the front door to them. Everything below is what the README and the shipped workflows actually do.
The other one is a quiet mismatch: people keep the sample's 1920×1080 and then load a real facade photo at 4000×3000. The region nodes want the matrix size they were built at - check report and the preview before blaming the sampler.
If you're here to judge whether the pack is worth the install: this node plus templates 01 and 03 is the honest test. It's the only part of the pack that needs nothing but ComfyUI itself, and the whole pipeline - regions, timeline, behaviours, export - runs on it end to end.
