Furry and anthro tags without memorizing e621's taxonomy

Danbooru and e621 are sibling image boards - e621 runs a modified fork of Danbooru's own engine - but they're not the same vocabulary. e621 tags under a stricter convention: at least ten general tags per upload, a "tag what you see" rule that binds tags to what's literally visible rather than to intent, and dedicated species and lore categories Danbooru has no equivalent for. This node exists because that vocabulary is genuinely different from the Danbooru-flavored one the pack's other character/artist nodes use, and it's aimed at furry and anthro subject matter specifically.

Why the fields are shaped the way they are

Character (Base), Character (Secondary), and Character (Tertiary) - three slots, not the five on the pack's Danbooru-side Characters node - cover primary character plus up to two more, sized for anthro crossover or small group scenes rather than the larger ensemble casts anime prompts sometimes ask for.

Lore Tags is worth understanding on its own: e621's lore category exists specifically for things that aren't visible in the image itself - a character's stated gender, backstory details, anything the "tag what you see" rule would otherwise exclude from general tags. This field is where that kind of information goes.

General Tags carries a tooltip that says "min 10" - that's not arbitrary, it mirrors e621's own site policy of requiring at least ten general, non-implied tags per upload. The node is nudging you to caption as densely as the training data itself was tagged, because that density is exactly what made e621-sourced training data useful in the first place: dense, consistent labels over a huge volume of images.

Know which checkpoint you're actually running

This matters more here than on most nodes in the pack: pure Illustrious v0.1 trained on Danbooru only. NoobAI extended Illustrious specifically by adding e621 data on top, for broader furry and NSFW coverage. If you're running a straight Illustrious-lineage merge with no NoobAI heritage, e621-specific species and lore tags may land with less impact than they would on a NoobAI-based checkpoint - that's a real difference in what the underlying model actually learned, not a flaw in this node.

The inputs and outputs that matter

    • Character (Base/Secondary/Tertiary), Lore Tags, General Tags - all required STRING fields, all free text against e621's naming conventions.
    • prefix / suffix (optional) - splice extra text before or after the assembled tags without a separate string node.

Output is a single E621 CHARACTER TAGS string - feed it into your prompt chain, typically alongside or ahead of your main positive prompt text.

    Installing it

ComfyUI Manager: search "EasyIllustrious," install, restart. Manually:

    cd ComfyUI/custom_nodes
    git clone https://github.com/regiellis/ComfyUI-EasyIllustrious
    pip install -r ComfyUI-EasyIllustrious/requirements.txt

No downloads beyond the pack itself.

    Common issues

Character tags don't seem to resolve to anything recognizable. Check the formatting matches actual e621/Danbooru convention - lowercase, underscores instead of spaces (lucario, umbreon, matching the field's own tooltip examples), not natural-language names.

Species and lore tags have little visible effect. Confirm you're on a NoobAI-based checkpoint or an e621-trained merge rather than a pure Danbooru-only Illustrious build - this is the single biggest variable for whether this node's vocabulary actually lands.

Under 10 general tags and results feel thin. That's the field's own guidance, not a soft suggestion - try padding out to the recommended minimum before concluding the node isn't doing much.
