MiniMax H3 is the omni-modal video model that landed open-weights in August 2026: 33B, native stereo audio, 4–15 second clips at up to 2K/24fps, day-zero ComfyUI support. Great - and it generates short clips, so the moment you want anything longer you're into segment extension, and into hand-managing overlaps, lengths and prompts across every segment. That's what this node is for.
MiniMax H3 Conditioning takes your video as rows. Each row is one segment: a prompt, a duration, how much of the previous segment it continues from, and optionally a continuity override. Fill row 1, row 2 appears. Up to 24 of them. The node encodes every prompt up front, before any sampling starts, so your text encoder is loaded once instead of once per pass - which on a 33B pipeline is not a small favour.
The inputs that matter
clip wants a MiniMax CLIP - that's Load CLIP set to type minimax - and vae is the H3 video VAE, the same one used for frames and references. Reference audio needs audio_vae as well.
mode picks the task. t2va is prompt-only. i2va opens on first_frame. fl2va opens on first_frame and closes on last_frame. fl2va_batched builds every segment between a neighbouring pair of images you wire into images. ref2va builds every segment on the reference inputs, and those are the ones you address in the prompt by name - <Picture 1>, <Video 1>, <Audio 1> - with up to nine reference pictures, three reference clips (each with its own audio input) and three reference sounds. That's the mode for keeping the same people, places and voices across a whole run, and it's the one that needs ref2va plus at least one wired reference, or it raises.
aspect_ratio and megapixels set the canvas, with width/height overriding if you set either above 0 - the tooltip's own examples: 0.4 MP for 832×480, 1.0 MP for 1344×736. custom takes the shape from the first picture the mode reads, and 16:9 when there's nothing to read.
prompt_header and prompt_footer are the good bit of design. Header text goes before every segment's prompt and footer after, so the wardrobe notes, the subject definitions, the camera style and the audio bed live in one place instead of being pasted into twenty boxes. A blank line separates the header from the row's own prompt.
Then the rows: prompt_1, duration_1 (seconds, snapped to the model's frame grid), overlap_1 frames - 22 to carry on, 0 to cut somewhere new, 39 or 56 to hold the scene harder, ignored on segment 1 - and the optional continuity_1 override for what H3 Extend Window would otherwise do (carry, refresh, handoff, reference, cut, or as set). A blank prompt_1 ends the run, so you don't have to clean up trailing rows.
Outputs: prompts (the WAS_H3_PROMPTS bundle that drives the extend and clip-select nodes), segments (how many rows are live - wire this to a While Loop's count), latent and latents, and a report string stating the frames each segment came to after snapping.
Installing it
It's in WAS Node Suite v3 (MIT, WASasquatch), so install the pack and not the node:
cd ComfyUI/custom_nodes
git clone https://github.com/WASasquatch/was-node-suite-comfyui.git
ComfyUI Manager, search WAS Node Suite v3, is the recommended route. ComfyUI 0.14.0+ and Python 3.10+; nothing is pip-installed and nothing is downloaded by the pack - and since H3's own weights are your download, features.network staying false in <ComfyUI user dir>/was-node-suite/config.yaml is doing what it says: a node missing weights will name the key it wants instead of quietly fetching gigabytes.
Before you build anything on H3
The weights are open but the licence is geofenced. The MiniMax H3 Community License grants broad rights below a $20M revenue line but scopes the whole grant to an Applicable Territory that excludes the EU, UK, South Korea and the United States - and the exclusion reaches outputs, not just the weights. The hosted Hailuo API is globally available; the local-weights path is not. Check where you stand before you invest a weekend in a pipeline.
Where it gets fiddly
Frame counts are snapped onto H3's 17k+5 grid - 124 frames is a real number, 120 is not - so the durations you type come back slightly different, and the report is how you find out. Overlap values shift on the same grid.
Everything downstream assumes this bundle. Sampling a row means feeding prompts and an index to MiniMax H3 Clip Select or H3 Extend Window, not poking at the conditionings directly. And a row's overlap only means something when something upstream is building continuity - the node's job is to describe the run, not to perform it.
Inputs (277)
| Name | Type | Default | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
| clip | CLIP | A minimax CLIP, from Load CLIP with type `minimax`. | |
| vae | VAE | The H3 video VAE, which encodes first_frame, last_frame, images and the reference pictures and clips. | |
| mode | COMBO | t2va | The task to condition for. `t2va` = prompt only; `i2va` = opens on first_frame; `fl2va` = opens on first_frame, closes on last_frame; `fl2va_batched` = every segment between a neighbouring pair of images; `ref2va` = every segment built on the ref inputs, named `<Picture 1>`, `<Video 1>`, `<Audio 1>` in the prompt. Assets wired into assets add to any mode. |
| aspect_ratio | COMBO | custom | Canvas shape, as `16:9` or `9:16`. `custom` takes it from the first picture the mode reads, and 16:9 where it reads none. A width or height above `0` sets that side itself, so the shape is whatever those give. |
| megapixels | FLOAT | 0.400–16 | Canvas area in millions of pixels, as `0.4` for 832x480 or `1.0` for 1344x736. Worked against aspect_ratio. Ignored when both width and height are set. |
| width | INT | 00–16384 | Canvas width in pixels, as `1024`. `0` works it out from megapixels. Rounded to a multiple of 32. |
| height | INT | 00–16384 | Canvas height in pixels, as `576`. `0` works it out from megapixels. Rounded to a multiple of 32. |
| prompt_header | STRING | Text put before every segment's prompt, as `subject_definitions:` and the wardrobe lines that hold for the whole run. Blank adds nothing, and a blank line separates it from the row's own prompt. A section a row writes itself, as `visual_style:`, replaces the one here for that row. A `<d>` line here is spoken in every segment. | |
| prompt_footer | STRING | Text put after every segment's prompt, as `overall_soundscape:` and `non_diegetic_music:` for the whole run. Blank adds nothing. A section a row writes itself, as `overall_soundscape: Server hum.`, replaces the one here for that row. A `<d>` line here is spoken in every segment. | |
| prompt_1 | STRING | One segment of the video, as `a lone astronaut walks across a red desert plain`. The first segment starts the clip and each one after it continues where the last left off. A blank row is skipped. | |
| duration_1 | FLOAT | 5.20.2–150 | How long this segment runs, carried frames included, matching its `duration_seconds` line. The model makes 17k+5 frames at 24 fps, so `8.0` is exact, `7` snaps to 7.29 and `9` to 8.71, the nearest lengths it makes; the report states the frames each segment came to. |
| overlap_1 | INT | 220–362 | Frames of the previous segment this one continues from, as `22` for a scene carrying on or `0` for a cut to somewhere new. `39` and `56` hold the scene harder; both sound carries take whole clips of sound, `17` for about 0.7s. Ignored on the first segment. |
| continuity_1opt | COMBO | carry | How this segment follows the last. `carry` = one shot; `refresh` = re-noised; `handoff` = cut on last frame; `reference (video)` = cut, cast kept; `reference (sample)` = cut, earlier cast; `cut` = new scene; `carry (audio only)` = cut, sound kept; `carry (audio) + reference (video)` = cut, sound and cast kept. |
| source_1opt | INT | -1-24–24 | Which segment this one continues from: `-1` = the one before, `-2` = the one before that, `2` = Segment 2, `0` = the same as `-1`. After a cutaway, `carry` picks the scene back up where it was left, with fresh sound; the new frames still join the clip's end. Ignored on segment 1. |
| header_footer_1opt | COMBO | both | Which shared text this segment's prompt is wrapped in. `both` = prompt_header and prompt_footer; `header only`; `footer only` = for a cutaway that shares the run's sound but none of the cast the header defines; `neither` = the row's prompt alone. |
| model_1opt | COMBO | auto | Which wired model samples this segment, answered on H3 Extend Window's model output. `auto` = ref2va where the segment references anything and fl2va otherwise, or whichever one model is wired; `fl2va` = model_fl2va, which holds pinned frames exactly; `ref2va` = model_ref2va. Ignored where no model is wired. |
| strength_1opt | FLOAT | 1.000–1 | How firmly this segment holds its pinned frames and references, the ones a transition adds included: `1.0` = held as given; lower values add noise to them before sampling, as `0.7`. Sound references are not changed. |
| sound_1opt | COMBO | auto | How this segment's sound follows the last: `auto` = as its transition does; `carry` = the last segment's sound runs on across the cut, under any cut picture; `fresh` = new sound, under a carried shot too. |
| seed_1opt | INT | 00–4294967295 | This segment's seed, as `0` for H3 Extend Window's seed plus the segment number, or `1234` to sample this segment from its own seed whatever the others use. |
| prompt_2opt | STRING | One segment of the video, as `a lone astronaut walks across a red desert plain`. The first segment starts the clip and each one after it continues where the last left off. A blank row is skipped. | |
| duration_2opt | FLOAT | 5.20.2–150 | How long this segment runs, carried frames included, matching its `duration_seconds` line. | overlap_2opt | INT | 220–362 | Frames of the previous segment this one continues from, as `22` for a scene carrying on or `0` for a cut to somewhere new. `39` and `56` hold the scene harder; both sound carries take whole clips of sound, `17` for about 0.7s. Ignored on the first segment. |
| continuity_2opt | COMBO | carry | How this segment follows the last. `carry` = one shot; `refresh` = re-noised; `handoff` = cut on last frame; `reference (video)` = cut, cast kept; `reference (sample)` = cut, earlier cast; `cut` = new scene; `carry (audio only)` = cut, sound kept; `carry (audio) + reference (video)` = cut, sound and cast kept. |
| source_2opt | INT | -1-24–24 | Which segment this one continues from: `-1` = the one before, `-2` = the one before that, `2` = Segment 2, `0` = the same as `-1`. After a cutaway, `carry` picks the scene back up where it was left, with fresh sound; the new frames still join the clip's end. Ignored on segment 1. |
| header_footer_2opt | COMBO | both | Which shared text this segment's prompt is wrapped in. `both` = prompt_header and prompt_footer; `header only`; `footer only` = for a cutaway that shares the run's sound but none of the cast the header defines; `neither` = the row's prompt alone. |

| vlm_clipopt | CLIP | A language model from Load CLIP, as `qwen3vl_8b_fp8_scaled.safetensors`, for the Prompt Timeline's Write scenes. Never loaded by a render of this node. |
Outputs (5)
| Name | Type | Description |
|---|---|---|
| latent | LATENT | The empty latent the first segment samples into, for a loop's value slot. |
| prompts | WAS_H3_PROMPTS | Every segment's prompt, frame count, assets and model, for H3 Extend Window. |
| segments | INT | Rows carrying a prompt, for a While Loop's count. |
| report | STRING | What each segment snapped to, the frames they come to, and the assets and model each one was given. |
| latents | LATENT | One empty latent per segment, at that segment's own length, so a loop samples every clip from fresh. Wire to MiniMax H3 Clip Select, or take one with an index node. |
