Some nodes do heavy lifting. This one is a notepad. VRGDG Video Builder Node Canvas is exactly what the author labels it in the default notes field: "Standalone node canvas prototype. Use the button on this node to open it." You drop it on the graph, hit the button, and it opens a canvas - a blank-ish workspace tied to the VRGameDevGirl Video Builder, still in prototype territory - where you can sketch out a workflow or jot project notes.

Honestly? This is the pack's most honest node. The author ships a ton of ambitious UI, and this one is tagged as a prototype on purpose. It exists so you can experiment with builder ideas in a dedicated space without committing to the full Video Builder project structure, and it doubles as a place to leave yourself notes that travel with the workflow.

    What it actually has

One input and one output, both the same string: notes. The default text explains the node itself. Type whatever you want into it - a scene idea, a reminder about a LoRA, a link to the guide - and the notes output passes it along, so you can wire your note into a save node or just read it off the node on the canvas. The canvas itself is opened by the button in the node's UI, not by running it.

There's no model loading, no VRAM cost, no processing. If you came here expecting a workflow-runner, you're at the wrong node - the Z-Image Workflow Runner UI and the Video Editor are the actual machinery in this pack.

    Why you'd bother

Two reasons. First, continuity: a note on the canvas rides inside the workflow JSON, so if you save and share the workflow, your thoughts about why you built it a certain way survive too - a nice habit in an ecosystem where workflows are shared as much as they are run. Second, it's the cheapest way to poke at the Video Builder's UI without spinning up a full project. The pack's flagship builder is big and, at beta stage, changes almost daily - sometimes you just want a scratch surface before you commit to the real thing.

    Install

Standard pack install - ComfyUI Manager → search vrgamedev, restart, and hard-refresh the browser (the button that opens the canvas is JavaScript; a stale page means no button). No extra dependencies, no model downloads, nothing to configure. It's genuinely one of the lowest-friction nodes in the pack, and that's the whole charm. Prototype it, keep it as a notepad, or ignore it - it'll sit there being a notepad either way.
