Global Prompt (Pos/Neg)

If you've ever changed a prompt in one CLIP Text Encode node, hit Queue, and realized the second encoder still has the old text - this node is the fix. SBL_GlobalPrompt is a "Global Prompt (Pos/Neg)" holder: two multiline text boxes (positive and negative) that pass straight through to two string outputs. That's the entire mechanism. There's no clever token math, no wildcard processing, no API call. It's a value node, and its whole job is to be the single authoritative source for prompts that fan out to every encoder in your graph.

Why does that matter? Most workflows are about 70% plumbing, and the #1 problem plumbing solves is repetition - the same value wired to five places, edited in each one, silently diverging. Wire your one Global Prompt node to every CLIP Text Encode (or every new-style LLM text encoder) and you edit in exactly one box. You'll notice the difference the first time a workflow has an SDXL refiner or a second model that needs the same prompt, and you change it once instead of three times.

A word of context so the negative box doesn't confuse you: the negative prompt still does real work on SDXL-lineage models, and does almost nothing at CFG 1 on the 2026 flow-matching crowd (Flux, Qwen-Image, ZiT - at CFG 1 the unconditional pass is literally skipped). This node doesn't care either way. It just moves strings. If your model doesn't use negatives, leave the field empty and you lose nothing.

The inputs and outputs that matter

• positive (STRING, multiline) - your main prompt.
• negative (STRING, multiline) - the negative prompt, if your model uses one.
• Outputs positive and negative (both STRING) - wire these into any encoder's text input.

There's nothing else to it. No optional inputs, no widgets to fight with. Two in, two out.

Install

From ComfyUI Manager, search for SBL and install. Or clone it yourself:

cd ComfyUI/custom_nodes

Then restart ComfyUI. The whole pack has zero extra Python dependencies and downloads no model files - it's pure utility, so there's nothing heavy waiting for you. All nodes appear under the SBL category in the node menu.

Common issues

The only real gotcha is expectations: this node does not concatenate, apply weights, expand wildcards, or clean up your prompt. If you're coming from a prompt-builder pack, this is the boring, predictable end of the spectrum - and that's kind of the point. If the strings don't show up downstream, check that you wired the right output (positive → text, not negative → text). One more habit worth knowing: because a shared prompt node caches like any other node, ComfyUI reruns everything downstream when you edit it - which is exactly what you want, so your whole graph stays in sync.
