Luma Ray 3.2 Video Reframe

The Luma Ray 3.2 Video Reframe node solves the most annoying social-media problem in AI video: you made a great 16:9 clip and the platform wants 9:16. Instead of cropping and losing half the frame, this node changes the aspect ratio and uses Ray 3.2 to fill the newly exposed canvas areas with content that matches the scene. Your subject stays, the empty space becomes a real environment, and the motion carries over.

Mechanically it's a video_reframe generation on Luma's servers: your video is uploaded through your Comfy account, Ray 3.2 re-renders it at the new ratio, and you get back a VIDEO plus a generation_id for further chaining. It's billed per generation - the tooltip is explicit that reframing is charged per second of output, so longer sources cost more.

The inputs that matter:

• video - the source footage. Up to 30 seconds, the most generous source cap of the Ray 3.2 edit/reframe pair (edit tops out at 18s).
• aspect_ratio - 16:9, 9:16, 1:1, 4:3, 3:4, or 21:9. Note 21:9 is there for ultrawide deliveries.
• prompt - describes how the newly exposed canvas areas should be filled. This is where you tell the model what's off-screen: "continue the desert landscape" beats leaving it blank.
• resolution - 360p through 1080p, 720p default. One real constraint from the source: 1080p is not available for the vertical ratios (9:16 and 3:4) - the node rejects that combo outright.
• seed - the Luma stub: controls whether the node re-runs; results are nondeterministic regardless.

Outputs are VIDEO and generation_id.

The two gotchas worth remembering. First, the vertical-ratio resolution limit - if you hit an error going 1080p at 9:16, that's the reason, drop to 720p. Second, write the fill prompt on purpose. People leave it empty and get whatever Ray 3.2 hallucinates into the gutters, which is fine for a quick test but won't survive client review. Describe what's supposed to be in the new space and the model plays along much better.
