Reference Audio (old id)
The audio loader your old workflow still has, and why it still works
- audio
If you're staring at a node labelled Reference Audio (old id), with the class name LibraryAudio, the situation is less mysterious than it looks. In version 0.1.2 this pack renamed its node ids - TaggedPrompt became ReferencePrompt, LibraryImage became ReferenceImage, and LibraryAudio became ReferenceAudio. Rather than break every workflow saved before that, the author kept the old classes as thin subclasses of the new ones. Same node. Same behaviour. Different id on disk. Go make a coffee, nothing is broken.
What it actually is
In the source, LibraryAudio is four lines long: class LibraryAudio(ReferenceAudio): DEPRECATED = True. It inherits everything from ReferenceAudio and sets that one flag, which hides it from ComfyUI's node search so newcomers don't pick the stale name. It still loads, still queues, still reads files. The changelog puts it plainly: "Workflows saved with the old ids (TaggedPrompt, LibraryImage, …) still load and run; those ids are just hidden from the search."
So this is an audio loader that doesn't care where your file lives. ComfyUI's core Load Audio only browses ComfyUI/input, which means copying every voice clip, music bed and sound effect into that folder forever. This one takes a full path to a file anywhere on disk - a sample library on a second drive, a folder your DAW writes to, whatever - and hands back an AUDIO you can wire anywhere.
Inputs and outputs
Two fields, both required, both strings:
path- the author's tooltip says "Full path to a audio file anywhere on disk." Absolute path. Not relative to ComfyUI's folder. There's aBrowse…button on the node that opens a native file dialog and fills this in for you, which is by far the easiest way to get it right.name- "Tag used as @name in the prompt. Empty = file name without extension." This is the bit that makes the node part of the pack rather than just a loader: whatever you put here becomes a@tagyou can mention inside a Reference Prompt, so the clip gets sent to a model that accepts audio references without you wiring anything to the model directly.
One output: audio (type AUDIO). Wire it into whatever wants audio - an audio-to-video reference input, a lip-sync node, a preview - or into a Reference Prompt's audio input to tag it for the current run.
Mechanically it's about as thin as a node gets: it calls ComfyUI's own comfy_extras audio loader and wraps the result as {"waveform": …, "sample_rate": …}. There is no resampling, no normalisation, no trimming. Whatever the decoder gives you is what the model gets, so a 48 kHz stereo file stays 48 kHz stereo. If a downstream node complains about shape or rate, that's on the file, not on this pack.
Install
No pip dependencies, no model downloads - the pack's pyproject.toml declares an empty dependency list on purpose, because it only uses what ComfyUI already ships.
cd ComfyUI/custom_nodes
git clone https://github.com/PixelMonkey77/comfyui-reference-library
Restart ComfyUI. Or in ComfyUI Manager, use Install via Git URL with the same URL. One catch that bites people before anything else works: this pack requires Nodes 2.0. Turn on Settings → Comfy → Nodes 2.0 → Modern Node Design (Nodes 2.0). The pack is built against that frontend - its UI is roughly 3,900 lines of JavaScript - and on the classic canvas it simply doesn't do its job. That's a real commitment in 2026: Nodes 2.0 is the rewrite that broke a pile of well-established packs, and plenty of people still run the legacy canvas on purpose. If you've deliberately stayed on the old canvas, this pack isn't for you, and no amount of fiddling will change that.
Where people get stuck
The path is relative, or doesn't exist. You'll get an error naming the path as you wrote it. Use the full path - D:\Audio\line_04.wav, not line_04.wav. The node strips the quotes Windows adds to "Copy as path", and it expands ~, but it will not expand %USERPROFILE% or $HOME, deliberately: a queued path shouldn't be able to read environment variables back out through an error message.
The yellow note. For safety, these loaders only read from folders the pack has already seen: folders you picked a file in, folders holding library files, and ComfyUI's own input/output. Type a path into a brand-new folder and the node shows a yellow note instead of pretending everything is fine. Click Browse… and pick the file once - that folder is trusted from then on. This rule exists because a shared workflow could otherwise make a node read, and send to an API, any picture or recording on your disk.
It's not in the node search. Right, by design. Add Reference Audio instead; same node, current name.
