About Author EN ๐
The MieNodes sheep card that deliberately does nothing
A node with no job, on purpose
About Author EN is a canvas annotation. It has no inputs, no outputs, and it never runs. What it does is draw a small card in your graph with the pack author's name, tagline and links - Bilibili, YouTube, GitHub, the Quark mirrors where the author parks models and workflows, and a Feishu knowledge base - so that a shared workflow carries its own credit and its own documentation pointers.
That is the whole feature. You reach for it when you're publishing or screenshotting a workflow and want the author's name on it, or when you want the links sitting there in the file instead of in a browser bookmark you'll never find again. If you opened someone else's workflow and there's a sheep card in the corner, this is what put it there.
Who's behind it: MieMieeeee, who publishes as SweetValberry (้ป้ปๅไธๅฉ on Bilibili) and makes AIGC video tutorials in both Chinese and English. Their earlier pack, ComfyUI-CaptionThis, is the one with actual community footprint - it turns up in a steady trickle of r/comfyui captioning threads and was the recommended answer when someone asked for an auto-caption workflow in mid-2025. MieNodes itself barely registers outside the pack's own README, which is worth knowing before you assume the LLM nodes in it are battle-tested.
How it works
The Python class is a no-op shell - RETURN_TYPES = (), FUNCTION = "noop", and a noop() that returns an empty dict. It exists so ComfyUI can list the node in the menu and serialize it into workflow JSON. All the actual behavior is front-end: js/textNodes.js renders the card, and the copy comes from js/profiles/author_en.json (the Chinese sibling uses author.json).
One detail the source makes explicit: the node's serialized properties.author_* fields take precedence over the profile file. So a workflow you downloaded still shows the English tagline and link labels even if the recipient's install doesn't have author_en.json sitting where the profile loader expects it.
The lineage is the interesting part. The pack's Simple Text and Rich Text nodes are a re-implementation of rgthree's Label node - transparent LiteGraph shell, the drawNode wrapper, all of it - and the README says so outright. About Author EN is the pack's own twist on that idea: same shell, but the content is a read-only author card instead of editable text. It is a quality-of-life node in the same spirit as the rgthree pack: it adds nothing you can generate with, it just makes the graph nicer to hand to someone else.
Inputs and outputs
None, and that isn't a documentation gap. There is no socket to wire and no output that shows up in the menu, because OUTPUT_NODE = False. Nothing in your graph depends on it, and nothing breaks if you delete it.
Installing it
Nothing special - it comes with the pack, needs no models, no API key, and no extra dependencies beyond the pack's light pip list.
cd ComfyUI/custom_nodes
git clone https://github.com/MieMieeeee/ComfyUI-MieNodes
Restart ComfyUI. Or search ComfyUI_MieNodes in ComfyUI Manager (registry publisher mie) and let it do the same thing.
Where people get stuck
Blank or grey box in the canvas. The Python half loaded and the JS didn't. Hard-refresh the browser tab, then check the JS console - a front-end extension from a different pack throwing on load can stop this one from registering. After a fresh clone, restart the server; the JS is served at startup.
"I can't find the node." It's registered as About Author EN - searching for the class name AboutAuthorNodeEn gets you nothing in the picker - and it lives under ๐ MieNodes / ๐ Extra, nowhere near the LLM connector nodes.
"It does nothing when I queue the workflow." Correct. It's a drawing, not a computation, so it has no effect on an API or headless run - on a hosted service the card simply isn't there. Same reasoning as any annotation: if you want text that survives to a backend, you're looking for a different node.
"I want my own notes in the graph, not the author's." Use the pack's Simple Text or Rich Text node (both are in the same category and one of them renders Markdown), or rgthree's Label. About Author EN is read-only by design - the only thing you can change per instance is the theme, Dark / Light / Minimal / Leaf, from the right-click menu.
